Please e-mail Christy@TropicalEscapefl.com
if you have any questions not covered here. I will post them to the FAQ if
warranted.
Here is the golden rule:
Every one of us is an ambassador for our group in the eye of the general public.
What one of us does directly reflects on the entire Trans community. So, it is each
persons responsibility to present themselves in a manner that will set a positive example
for us all.
Special Note:
I can't stress enough how important it is that we, as a group, make a good impression with
the American Legion at our events. There will be absolutely no tolerance for
improper or rude behavior or any illegal activities. Remember, your actions
represent the entire group and we will not allow any individual to ruin this event for the
entire group.
1. What should I wear? Dress casual or like you were going to a nice office party. This is a social event and a place to network with friends, family, local businesses, and many other members of the TGLB community. It is also a place to come and have a good time but we have to remember that we are at an American Legion post and will be mingling with a lot of regular folks on the way in and out of the party. It is very important to look and behave our best so we can be a positive reflection on our group so they will want to have us back again and again. We will have guidelines for behavior and dress and will not tolerate inappropriateness of either. If you have any questions regarding these guidelines, please e-mail Christy and she will clear up any confusion.
2. Why the door charge? Tropical Escape is a non-profit organization created for the community and the donation will go to cover the expenses of hall rental, supplies, and cleanup. Everyone putting this together is a volunteer. If the party is a success and continues to grow we will put any monies over and above the expenses into providing a better gathering the next time. It will go towards more and better food, a better location, or a holiday party where there will be no charge at all for everyone. Perhaps, down the road, we can provide professional entertainment or speakers for your enjoyment.
3. What bathrooms do I use? The hall has it's own set of bathrooms and you use the bathroom appropriate for your gender presentation.
4. Is there plenty of parking? The hall has room for 200 people and there is a lot of parking available. There is parking directly outside the the lodge.
5. Can anyone come. Or is this just for the T-girls? Yes, we want EVERYONE who wants to come to be encouraged to do so. Tropical Escape is a place for the T community to gather, network, and PARTY. We want to focus on the Trans community but want to serve as an outreach to the general community as well to demonstrate our value as members of society.
6. Will there be alcoholic drinks? Yes, we will have our own bartender available in our room serving up anything you desire.
7. Can I take Pictures? We encourage you to take pictures and we would love to post party pictures on the website. However, it is very important to respect the privacy of everyone at the event given the nature of our community. Make sure to ask if it's OK BEFORE taking someone's picture. Some of us are not comfortable with our pictures floating around quite yet.
8. What is the theme? We don't have a set theme. Feel free to dress as you wish as long as it's tasteful. We are looking into doing theme parties down the road once we get some momentum so be thinking of ideas that would be fun and let us know.
